They can't make the same songs they used to, that type of music isn't in anymore. It would be ignorant for them to continue singing in the 90's style of music in the 00's. Any good artist, grows up and develops their music. Same with the boys. It's kind of like the ish that people were giving Avril when she started dressing more feminine. They kept commenting on how she's changing and comforming etc. Well duh.. everyone grows up.
