Wow!! I've said for years that I always remembered when Steve Murphy announced John Candy's death... I never thought I'd randomly come across the actual clip!
That was Dave Wright - the set move was in Feb '93. Dave would only host the show for a few nights before abruptly leaving and then annouciing his retirement.
I seem to recall that after they moved into their new set, the news started with Steve (or Dave Wright) standing in the middle of the newsroom reading the top headlines, then the camera would follow him walking to his desk as this open played. Looked really tacky and they abandoned it pretty quickly.

Wow, just 7 weeks before I was born! It's funny seeing Steve Murphy from way back then - he's still on ATV, now called CTV Atlantic!
