Interesting section of an interview with conductor Antonio Pappano were Renee Fleming talks about legato singing, phrasing, head voice, etc. This is from Fleming's recent DVD release of LA TRAVIATA on Opus Arte.

  • Loved this. Thank you so much for posting! Do you happen to have any more of the interview? I downloaded the opera on I-Tunes, but to my disappointment, it didn't come with any "extras." It would be much appreciated! :-)

Yes, I actually read that this would be the first opera video offered on itunes, but I bought the DVD anyway. :)

  • I LOVE that Antonio is always so concerned with teaching others the pragmatics of opera singing. Its great. Its so helpful to all of us.

  • I could listen for hours to Renee talk about her art and her joy of singing. LOVE.

The book is "The Inner Voice: The Making of A Singer" by Renee Fleming, published 2004. Enjoy her comments too on the other famous sopranos.

  • @jeezee0210 Hi, May I please have the name of her book? thank u very much

  • @caleche78 A voice that worths nothing??? so this big career is just happened??

  • es ist besser etwas zu zeigen, als so viel uber die sachen sprechen, die sie nicht verstehet!

  • You have to read her book to know how much effort she put in mastering her craft. If you are wondering how she can sustain that volume or tone in those long notes, she mentioned that she projects and control her voice not like a straight cylinder so that there is still power near the end.

  • Such words of wisdom. Thank you.

  • @caleche78 Do you feel better now?

  • i love all the critics on here. Especially the so called singers. Well, it's You Tube , hey post a video...give us a good laugh

  • Head voice is the key! Sound advice from Renée...Easier said than done, of course!

  • @LohengrinT She had a voice that is worth nothing and you are a stupid as she is
