The book is "The Inner Voice: The Making of A Singer" by Renee Fleming, published 2004. Enjoy her comments too on the other famous sopranos.

You have to read her book to know how much effort she put in mastering her craft. If you are wondering how she can sustain that volume or tone in those long notes, she mentioned that she projects and control her voice not like a straight cylinder so that there is still power near the end.
