Kevin Eldredge, air race pilot at the Reno Air Races came to win in 2010 in the Super Sport Class. In his attempt to break Jon Sharp's Qualifying record of 412 mph the turbulence and G's ere too much for the engine and the oil filter housing broke off, dumping the oil, over-speeding the propeller, an then blowing a huge hole in the Thunderbolt Lycoming engine.... holy shit, never heard that noise from one before. I nearly shit my pants sitting in my chair, they would have had to burn that air craft to clean the mess I would have made in the cockpit.
