marktywharton thanks for your reply - my main point is that some people seem to confuse random generation as a process with generative as a class of processes. Many processes can be deterministic and generative. Anyway all the best and if you you want to see the latest in triggering with Nodal I've attached a video response.

The statement that the generative process in Nodal is random is not correct, particularly in the case of the string quartet which was entirely deterministic - generative does not mean random! Anyway the control that you talk about in the video might be more apparent in the lastest version of Nodal which has MIDI triggering built into it (much like triggering in Ableton Live).

@pmcskeeter - forgive the generalisation, this was a quick and simplistic overview of the way various pieces of generative software work and if we missed that precise feature of Nodal, then I apologise. This was in no way meant to be taken as a review. Due to the constraints of the current hardware we are working with, Nodal would not be an appropriate software choice for us at present.
That is not to say that we would not be interested in hooking up with you in the future. Kind regards, Mark.
