In a locked room, all by himself, sits an old, battered man named Elijah Madnar. This is what he has to tell Gillian and Randam...

A son born when Halley's Comet is in the sky. Kojima plays one of his name tricks again. Who would this son be, eh...?

Earlier I mentioned that lateron in the game, in some sequences, the conversation cannot be sped up. This is one of these moments. This kind of slow storytelling was widely accepted in games during that time, and not just MSX games.

This slow sequence takes up around 25 minutes. I cut it into three pieces due to YouTube's 10-minute restriction.

It's amazing to note that some of the flashback photos in this long cutscene were later reused in the home console versions of the original game. The only difference was that the super-deformed caricatures were replaced with normal ones. In addition, changes were made to this cutscene.

But that still doesn't explain why in the Japanese version Gillian mistakes Elijah for Randam, considering that Shiozawa San lookes nothing like Randam...

Interstingly enough, in the PC-Engine, PlayStation, and Sega Saturn versions of Snatcher, Elijah Madnar was looked like his voice actor, Kaneto Shiozawa. In the Sega CD localization, Elijah looked like his form in SD Snatcher, non 'Chibi' of course...
