Volvo Trucks is launching Volvo FH16 with 700 hp and 3150 Nm of torque, the world's most powerful series-manufactured truck. The company is the first manufacturer to be able to put a 700 hp badge on its vehicles, which is intended for the very heaviest and most demanding of transport operations. The Volvo FH16 is certified for the new Euro 5 European emission requirements that come into force in autumn 2009, meaning that emissions of nitrogen oxide have been cut by more than 40 percent and that the Volvo FH16 has become even more powerful without compromising on the environment.

The first customer of the Volvo FH16 700 truck, Tore Aase from Norway, has taken delivery of the first world's most powerful truck in Tuve, outside Göteborg in Sweden, where the truck is built. The truck will be used in long-haul operations in the west of Norway, hauling equipment for the oil industry. The world's most powerful truck, with 700 horsepower and a massive 3150 Nm of torque, is built for the most demanding haulage assignments.

  • @nonutm 90kph. Trucks are not allowed to go faster in Europe. As such all trucks have to be limited at 90kph.(56mph)

  • @chinchillawrangler The reason they're cabover is because of regulations in Europe dictating the length of a truck. That is to say, regs say a combination (tractor + trailer) may not be longer than a certain length, hence a shorter tractor means more space in the trailer. This limitation in length allows the trucks to navigate the smaller roads in villages & cities rather than having to dump their cargo along the periphery and having it delivered by smaller trucks.

  • @nonutm over 120 mph

  • @09133217957 no, oil companies do.

  • @chinchillawrangler And were twin screws...

  • these trucks would probably do better in america if they werent cabovers and didnt look so euro

  • top speed?

  • volvo rules the roads

  • i have driven both nose trucks and these Overbuilt trucks (were the engine is under the cabin) and i say that you se a hole lot better from the Overbuilt. but it's much easier to check the engine on the nose trucks

  • i think due to some regulations of course ...... and i dont think that they would do well over here ( maybe not heavy spec )
