The 40th Precinct Community Council posted invites: "Come celebrate with us at the 40th Precinct Community Christmas Holiday Meeting, December 7th, 2011, at 6:30pm at Lincoln Hospital, Conference Room #4, 234 Eugenio Maria de Hostos 149th Street, Bronx, NY, 10455 . Bring a new toy as a donation to one child in need in our community !!!!!!! We hope you can join us! And Thank you again for all your support throughout the year!!!"
Ephraim Cruz, one of the Facilitators of Occupy The Bronx states: What better time to celebrate justice by standing up against injustice!! I'd rather our kids go without toys than continue on with generations of institutionalized injustice.

Reason:

On Saturday, December 3, 2011, Occupy the Bronx was scheduled to conduct its roving General Assembly in solidarity with Morning Glory Garden gardeners at 11 am. However, upon arriving we were preempted by NYPD Captain Garcia and his legal gang - including some in "community" affairs attire - under his command from the 40th Precinct who began randomly arresting Bronxites, including Shaun Lin, Carlos Sabater, David Suker, Carla Murphy, and Alex who was merely there as an independent writer for allegedly "blocking pedestrian traffic" and congregating without a permit. After two months of OTB General Assemblies throughout the borough, all in the presence, with the cooperation, and the professionalism of higher ranking officers from the 46 Precinct and even the 40th Pct on previous occasions, today's trespass against us CAN NOT be tolerated! YA BASTA!

At the time of the arrest, there weren't many of us there, but we were as vulnerable to arrest as anyone else and as vulnerable as those who were indeed wrongfully arrested without cause.

Occupy The Bronx Issues Invites:

THIS WEDNESDAY at 6:30pm at Lincoln Hospital, we invite you to confront the 40th Precinct at the precinct council's monthly meeting to expose the inconsistency of this precinct's policing practices within the Mott Haven, Melrose, Port Morris sections of the Bronx; to stand up for Shaun's, Carlos', David's, Alex's, and the sister's, and the Bronx' collective dignity; to request all charges be dropped and DATs be removed from the records of those arrested, as they were peacefully assembling in a manner and fashion that is constitutionally protected activity and for which a permit is not required; and to demand Deputy Inspector Christopher J. McCormack reign in his crew in all shades of blue!
