I received three phone calls, regarding an empty coal train (E CIPNAM) coming off the BRC, nearing the BN. Leading was a KCS, Southern Belle SD70ACe, followed by a BNSF H2 SD70MAC. In DPU mode was a BN Executive SD70MAC, facing the right way, making for a neat photo. I made way to Montgomery, on the Mendota Sub. The train went into the hole at Cicero, due to a messed up radio. Once I was told that he was on the move, it didn't take him long to show up. Good way to start the day!

As far as I was concerned, the day was already a success. I thought too soon. Right after the KCS passed by, I received yet another phone call. Two Santa Fe Bluebonnet SD40-2's were preparing the L CHI102 at Willow Springs. I went home to pick up a couple things, and made my way to Lockport. Not long after I showed up, Z DENCHI came through, with a BNSF SD70ACe and a BNSF H2 SD70MAC. Neat change from the GEVO's and Dash 9's. The train is running wrong main and will switch over, up ahead at Romeo.

I heard "6746 east" contact UD Tower. It was granted permission across the diamonds. Not long later, the gates went down. Expecting an SD40-2, I got a pair of UP GE's leading a BNSF H2 Dash 9 and a BNSF GEVO. Not your typical leaders on Z trains.

Running right behind the UP led Z train, 4 BNSF ES44DC's head east through Lockport, headed for Willow Springs, with another Z train.

2:35 rolled around, so I headed up to the CN, to catch Amtrak. The southbound Texas Eagle barrels by, with engine 113 in the lead.

The pair of Santa Fe SD40-2's head west, with a WHOPPING 4 cars! The train is only about a mile from the BNSF yard, where it would perform its switching.

After Lockport, I headed further south, to Verona, IL. My intent was to capture the train coming under the ATSF cantilever. On the way to Verona, I was just south of Mazon when I saw the headlight of an eastbound. I pulled over and filmed it, as it made its way across the open fields. A pair of BNSF H2 Dash 9's and a BNSF ES44DC power the train.

In Verona, an eastbound Z train highballs through town, with 4 BNSF ES44DC's. Those all GEVO lash-ups are getting more typical.

Three BNSF ES44DC's lead an eastbound stack train through Verona, threatening to jeopardize the classic ATSF shot. It turns out that the SD40-2's were approaching, at the same time. Luckily, the stack cleared just at the right time! 6933 and 6763 hustle west under one of the ATSF cantilevers in Verona.

Running behind the SD40-2's was a westbound stack train, powered by a pair of BNSF ES44DC's and a pair of BNSF H2 Dash 9's.

I headed home, since the Chilli Sub wasn't showing any more signs of life. Later that night, I heard an empty ore train heading north on the J. I went out to investigate. Glad I did! Quite the consist highballs north through Plainfield. We have a BNSF SD70ACe, a BNSF SD70MAC, a BNSF ES44AC, a CN C44-9W, two IC SD70's and an EJ&E SD38-2.

Once the ore train cleared Normantown, M334 got the signal to head south. A pair of CN C44-9W's and a CN SD40-2W head south through Plainfield, with some neat cars up front.
