This is just a bit of nostalgic humour.
I found this after posting my recording of the Rev. Kelsey, I knew I had a parody of the Gospel preachers SOMEWHERE in my box of delights.
Having found it, I realised that it amused me now, just as much as it did when I bought it!
So, here it is, -for any other slow developers out there!!

How many times did I have to listen to my poor father quote this skit! Years later, when he pontificated about something or tried to convince me his way was the right way, all we had to say to him was, "It's in the book!" and that was that . . . Thanks for the memories!

There's definitely some confusion. Tony's talking about Phil Harris's "Woodman, Spare That Tree," and Clive thinks he's talking about "It's in the Book." It becomes clear when you follow the comment trail backwards. (Of course, this whole conversation took place two years ago, so who knows whether they're still following it now.)

He means "paen" of praise, not "peon" of praise. . .which is funny right there by itself.

As children, my brother and I pantomimed this record and many from Stan Freberg. In the mid 50s, we traveled with VFW Buddy Shows to many military venues (posts/bases) in and around Okinawa. Fond and lasting memories.

I first heard this on Dr. Demento back in the 80's when I was a little kid. I would sneak up late at night (9-11pm) to listen and this song was always a favorite.

I had that record when I was a kid. I'd love to know what happened to it!
