@themightyjoseph - Reagan didn't say that about the Taliban at all, & you're misrepresenting what was said.
The Taliban didn't even exist then. Reagan spoke of the Mujahadeen, the Anti-Communist fighters - you know, the guys fighting the Soviets. The Mujahadeen later went on to fight the Taliban as the Northern Alliance.
Reagan was speaking about enemies of the Taliban, not the Taliban. See the wiki on "Northern Alliance"
