I've been amassing voicemails from friends and family for over a decade.

Update: 14 February, 2011
I saw today on postsecret how they now have a living voices section. This I find to be an incredibly strange coincidence that they now have this. I hardly think I inspired it via my blog, forum posts, or this, but the timing is incredibly weird. It is interesting to see how many others have also been doing this. I don't think I'd ever want to put mine out there, though.

  • Umm if it wrong of me to want to hear your stalkery recordings?

  • @Yarrum13 I wouldn't say it's wrong to want to hear, but it isn't going to happen ;-) They're messages to not be shared.

  • Maybe the cat belongs to that guy behind you?

  • @culwin No, he has a tiny dog that he keeps tied up to a post several times per day that I'm surprised hasn't been eaten by an eagle. It's not his kitty.

  • I think it's rather sweet actually...

  • @colaguy29229 thanks *^^*

  • I think your cleanliness obsession is crazier than recording people on voicemail (jk). But you should keep the dead people and the ones who are still alive separately! Some people might think this is a bit like writing obituaries for living people just to save yourself the effort when they die, do you know what I mean? People don't like to think about the fact that they're going to die, so someone might take offence that you keep a memo in anticipation of their death.

  • That is awesome. Its agreat idea. How else are we going to remember. Thats like the whole point of technology

  • I think it's weird that you know so many people that are dead.

  • @schatze78 :) Done.

  • I think its a good idea. i wouldnt tell my relatives, but id want to do that.

  • That's actually a really good idea! Sometimes I wonder what people sounded like, when I haven't seen them in years. Would I recognize their voice? Then again, in my experience, recorded voice sometimes sounds different from real voice. Especially on the phone, because of the frequency spectrum used. Next time you're talking to someone on the phone, ask him to randomly say the letter S and F. Then you need to figure out what was said. Should be impossible to get it right ;)

  • @schatze78 LOL. Now I'm sure you are not a geek. A geek would be so offended by that. ;^)

Oh ( he blurted out almost spoiling the surprise) I was inspired so I painted something that may interest you.... at least I hope so. It will be up soon.

  • Not weird a good idea really. My moms hole family kept wanting to tape my grandmothers stories from the depression and from when her husband was murdered but sadly nobody ever did.Boopy is gonna be pissed when he see's this.

  • @schatze78 Oh for sure for sure, I would understand that. Just the dark side deep down does want to hear it lol, The same part of me who likes to people watch I guess.
