A simple children's seesaw can be used to pump water and make a wood fire more efficient by creating a bellows like action. Very handy in underdeveloped communities where water is carted and wood used for cooking is an increasingly scarce resource whose use is further degrading local and global environments. Sustainable living can be simple and fun! I saw the original idea on the Murdoch Uni Encounters website - it came from a year 10 student called Thomas. Kids are smart, eh?
