This was filmed while driving through the 2 1/2-mile long Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel. The tunnel connects the port city of Whittier, Alaska on Prince William Sound to the Seward Highway. Since the tunnel has only one lane, traffic in both is held at staging areas until they are allowed to enter the tunnel. Each direction is allowed fifteen minutes of "tunnel time", with fifteen minutes between them. This probably allows time for tunnel inspections, resolving traffic problems, and allowing trains to pass. The single lane in the tunnel also has a railroad track.

  • Wow, good idea to post this video - I love that line one of the guys there said, though, when they're going through the tunnel - "This is like watching paint dry." Good line - I'll remember that to describe boring stuff.
