The Harry Ransom Center presents "The Greenwich Village Bookshop Door: A Portal to Bohemia, 1920-1925." In the early 1920s, noteworthy visitors to Frank Shay's bookshop began autographing the narrow door that opened into the shop's office. Signed by over 240 artists, writers, publishers, and other notable residents of New York City's Greenwich Village neighborhood, this unusual artifact is a portal to the past. Using items from across the Ransom Center's collections, the exhibition reconstructs the Bohemian world of the bookshop and its influential community. You can also investigate each signature online at www.hrc.utexas.edu/bookshopdoor.
