Awesome score from Bernard Herrmann,one of his best :D
-
One of my all time favorites! I wish I knew those quirky characters. Everything from the brilliant acting, Bernard Herrmann's elfin-march music, the lush Vermont scenery to the witty one-liners is right on. Ol' Hitch truly was a genius!

@4Topwood Hmm, touche.
And I agree, The Trouble with Harry was a fantastic film.
-
I think you're right about it being one of Hitch's few comedies, hence not as well-known. But To Catch a Thief and North By Northwest are definitely comedic. So maybe the difference is that they had Cary Grant and this one didn't.
-
@4Topwood I'm assuming it's not very well known because it's one of his few steps into the comedy genre.
-
I found Mildred Dunnock's character in this truly terrifying, I don't know why.
Glad you posted this. It's a terrific film but not one of Hitch's better known ones, again, I don't know why.

There's currently a Volkswagen commercial out that uses Bernard Herrmann's title music from this film.
