Whether written or filmed, there are inherent challenges when documenting the lives of great literary, historical and political figures. "Recreating the Lives of Others" will be a live panel discussion taking place at Spelman College on Friday, February 11, 2011. Featuring Historian and Author Blanche Wiesen Cook (Eleanor Roosevelt: Volume One 1884-1933), Filmmaker and Director, Orlando Bagwell (Eyes on the Prize, Citizen King), Playwright and Author Clare Coss (Emmett, Down in My Heart) and Eminent Scholar and Author Margaret B. Wilkerson (Nine Plays by Black Women, The Dark Vision of Lorraine Hansberry) Cosby Endowed Professor Alison R. Bernstein explores the process involved with writing and filming biographic works. This thought provoking and free event is open to the public and will be held at 4pm on the lower level of the Cosby Academic Building in room 32.
