This video shows the plasma spark system running at high frequency and exploding water mist. At the beginning of the video, I use a lens from some sunglasses to allow more detail of the plasma ball to be seen.

If anyone has any ideas what is causing the plasma misfires, please let me know. I've tried using higher capacitance, but with no change. The circuit is still the same as in video #14, except for the 47uf DC capacitor being replaced with an AC version and the coil now being water cooled.

**** UPDATE ****

I've fixed my misfire issue by putting a diode between the AC live from the outlet and the coil. Now it fires everytime, even at high frequency.

  • can you post me the schematic,? i'm sperimenting with plasma too..

  • PM me your email and I'll send it to you.

  • Looking good man. Obviously I showed the right person, lol. Your plug seems to be holding up quite nicely with the spark. If I run mine that fast for more than 2 seconds it melts the negative electrode right off of the plug.

Is this video with the new a/c cap?

  • Yes, this is the 47-53uf AC cap.

  • Nice!!

Hey, maybe you need to use higher voltage on the ac side...

It's to prevent any HV leaks...

    It helped me at least...

    Keep up the good work!!

  • Thanks for the comments!

I had a brainwave last night and fixed my misfire issue this morning. All I did was to put a diode between the live of the AC and the coil. Now it fires everytime, even at high frequency.

  • at 5:08 it looks like the atomic bomb exploded!, cool looking

  • and now you can cut metal!!!

  • what do you think causes the stream of dots/sparks/light that seems to change with the higher frequencies? at first I thought it was just the light reflecting off the lens in various ways creating an illusion, but then I noticed they move and speed up and slow down.....any thoughts?

  • sounds so elecrtifying

  • Glad to know it works...

Can't wait to see another video... Lol!!
