Ecstatica is an action adventure released in 1994 by Psygnosis. It had a unique graphics engine where all 3d models were build from ellipsoids and few polygons. The scenery was prerendered.

You control the character with the num-pad. Move with 8, 4, 6, 2; dodge punches with 5; Punch with 7 and 9; pick up objects with 1 and 3; movement speed control with F1-F12.

  • Does anyone know why the controls don't work under dosbox, everything works perfectly except for the freaking controls, I'm trying to use the keypad but it doesn't work.

  • The controls do work for me. Did you switch the keypad on?

  • You Are Not Dead, When The Monkey (I dont Know If That Thing Is a Monkey) Leaves the Room Press Any Numpad Button To Escape (Your Health Are Low)

  • I know, but I thought that it'd be a good place to end the video.

  • This is some amazing realtime 3D for 1993/94. This game totally stymied me back in the day but I think it's fantastic. I'd totally play an updated version with state of the art graphics if they kept the same whimsical gothic horror style and the fairly slow, puzzle-based gameplay with combat mixed in.

  • It's not completely realtime 3D. Only the characters are rendered in realtime. The scenery is prerendered.

  • That f*cking Werewolf, that f*cking stone you trip over, that fat f*cking tw*t of a bear thing. This game was full of annoyances, yet was absoltuely awesome. Anyone else feel like a bit of shady geezer slapping those little pigme bitches around?

  • Man you really should make a video-walkthrough of Ecstatica or something.

  • @Silentzio I know, I mean it's impressive what they managed to do WITHOUT polygons.

  • @CrowbarSka C'mon, nowadays all 3d engines work with polygons, which are basically triangles. Now look at Crysis or Battlefield 3... :)

  • this game was freaking hard, the werewolfs scared the hell out of me and yet the story was... entertaining!

  • Must be "Magical Formulas for Dummies."

  • Pretty cool what can be done with just ellipsoids!

  • scary music 1:33

  • gotta love the fat farting wereboar!

  • Reminds me of "Alone in the dark".

  • vaya mierda el puto gilipollas mono idiota

  • He is not dead actually yet. You can get from this. You just have to move somehow and you can get your legs from the noose.
