This old wood splitter makes chopping wood effortless. One slides the log in, pulls down a lever, and the blade comes down, splitting the wood. Throw the lever in to reverse and the blade comes up, one gathers the split wood, and throws it into the back of a pickup.

Easy! Beats doing what Desertphile does -- swinging an axe!

  • Let's see in operation.

    The next time I'm up there helping to split wood I will get video of it now that I have a movie camera. I should also get detailed pictures of every component since other people have asked how they could turn an old engine in to a splitter.

  • is that crystal lake Oregon?

  • "is that crystal lake Oregon?"

    No, Los Angeles County, California.

  • Dang you need a new camera. Splitters make wood chopping fun instead of work.

    The biggest difficulty is working with another person and making sure that their hands are out of the way before pulling the lever down. }:-}

  • lol, well, atleast the state wasn't too far off. We have a crystal lake here as well. It's up in the Santiam Pass.

  • lol, me too bro, me too!

  • Good gods I wish I had one of those! I have to do it the old way: freeze to death while wishing I had split wood in the fall.
