  • I feel the answer is simple. One isn't better than the other. Male Shep has some lines that are delivered better than Fem Shep, and vice versa. I just boils down to personal preference.

  • @TheBIOPRINCE

I think it's exactly the opposite. Jennifer Hale sounds like a lifeless robot while Mark Meer gives life to Commander Shepard.

Funny how everyone can have their own opinion, isn't it?

  • I don't have any real problem with playing either version of Shepard. Yet I personally think though that Hale's Shepard sounds less properly emotive and more wooden in her dialog more often. Only in the deepest of intimate scenes does she express "soft concern" and vulnerability well. Meer I think does it at the right moments more often, even in the less intimate scenes he does it when it's appropriate and to the right level for the scene. I personally say Male Shep is the one better acted.

  • BOTTOM LINE:

Meer is the best Renegade Shep.

Hale is the better all around VA.

  • ill be honest both of them have theye ups and down

  • I've never understood why everyone praises Jennifer Hale. She does a fine job, but nothing worth remembering. She over emotes most of the time, making small meaningless moments into "OH MY GOD SHE DIDN'T STEAL YOUR CREDIT CHIT!"

Mark Meer on the over hand is outstanding throughout. He might sound monotone and times but I think that's how the real Commander Shepard would sound. He only shows true emotion for the right moments, which Mark does exceptionally well.

  • Personal choice: Male Shepard. I don't know why. I enjoyed a lot of Jennifer Hale's other voice acting, but in Mass Effect, I personally choose male Shepard. Both of them are cool and awesome, male Shepard just sounded a little more convincing.

  • @blodlord exactly it seems like she's trying to much to sound badass , mark meer doesn't even have to because it all seems natural while he's saying some renegade line!

  • @huntsman35 Amen, finally someone with a balanced opinion! Video comparisons like this are useless. I suspect for most people it depends entirely on who they're used to playing. I'm a guy but I usually play femshep so I prefer Hale. Not because she's better but because that's who Shepard is to me.

  • Personally I like both. Played both countless times now on x-box and pc versions. I think on a slight overall I prefer fem shepard, as kind of felt like she got more of the feel of more of the situations she was doing the lines for. Both are good enough to not to often make you feel like "what the feck was that about" due to their failing to do the line justice.

  • I'm sick of hearing about femshep. It's all "femshep should bone tali" or "femshep and liara forever!" They wanted to interview commander shepard, you know who appeared? MARK MEER! Shepard is a MAN!

  • Male Shepard is the only real Shepard
