Leonardo the mummified dinosaur makes his world premiere debut here in just under 2 days - and we couldn't be more excited to see visitors' reactions to this extraordinary fossil. It took a lot to get him here—a special palette; a very heavy fork lift; an air cushioned tractor trailer; a crane; along with our very own dynamic paleontology staff and outstanding support from supreme moving specialists. As Dr. Bakker says, "Moving a fossil is like moving a piece of art." In this video, we share a rare peek into what David Temple calls "Game Day,"— moving Leonardo, a 77 million-year-old, 6-ton adult duckbilled dinosaur fossil, from our off-site facility to the museum. Last Saturday I was at the museum and I saw people taking down and crating one of the hanging displays for the Leonardo da Vinci exhibit along the main hallway. I thought your video was about THAT Leonardo. I was also about to buy tickets for the new dinosaur exhibit when I was informed that the exhibit opening was postponed because of Ike. Anyway, I am excited to see THIS Leonardo, perhaps this coming weekend.
