TURN ON ANNOTATIONS

A RPG (Role Playing Game), this is the second generation of the Pokémon franchise which includes Gold, Silver, and Emerald. Players are able to play the new Johto region along with the previous Kanto region after beating the Elite 4 for the first time.
The second generation of Pokémon video games began in 2000 with the release of Pokémon Gold and Silver for Game Boy Color. Like the previous generation, an enhanced remake titled Pokémon Crystal was later released. It introduced 100 new species of Pokémon (starting with Chikorita and ending with Celebi), for a total of 251 Pokémon to collect, train, and battle. New gameplay features include a day-and-night system (reflecting the time of the day in the real world) which influences events in the game; full use of the Game Boy Color's color palette; an improved interface and upgraded inventory system; better balance in the collection of Pokémon and their moves, statistics and equippable items (a new addition); Pokémon breeding; a new region named Johto and the ability to select the protagonist's gender. Unique to the second generation games is the fact that, after exploring Johto, the player can enter and explore the original Kanto region, which lies to the east of Johto.

As of May 8th, 2009 a 10th anniversary remake of Gold, Silver, and Crystal will be released as Heart Gold and Soul Silver. It will be released in Japan late 2009 and the rest in 2010.

This video will show what is played when the main character is in the Tin Tower in Ecruteak City.

The Tin Tower (Japanese: スズのとう Tin Tower) is a location in Johto in Ecruteak City. In Gold and Silver and their remakes, the trainer finally comes to the Tin Tower, holding the Rainbow Wing. At this point, the player will be allowed to ascend the remaining eight levels of the tower, up to the roof, where Ho-Oh itself waits. However, in Pokémon Crystal, players with a Clear Bell will be able to capture Suicune here, and only after catching each of the legendary beasts, will a trainer be able to ascend the steps above the first floor to get to Ho-Oh.

Anyone who wishes to enter the tower must have either the Rainbow Wing or Clear Bell, and must show these to the monk to enter.
