  • sounds like "The Girl I Left Behind Me"

  • I think it is, just another version of the same song. Thanks for tuning in and commenting, and I hope you have a great day, Brian

  • what a job, they did on this! absolutely fantastic!!

  • Totally agree, they were amazing!

  • First time have heard this version which is brilliant.

    John from Liverpool England.

  • I agree, they were amazing! I am glad that you enjoyed it so well. Check out my other Skillet Lickers vidoes. They were all recorded sometime in the 1930's. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Have a nice day, Brian

  • Love my Skillett Lickers lps. I love their anarchic sound.Their Radio show "A Corn Licker Still in Georgia" is fantastic, funny and chockers with old-timey classics. It is availble on lp. I got mine many years ago from either Arhoolie or Rounder back in the '80s.

  • @sandinmyears1 Not Bluegrass. Old-Timey string band. I think this song goes back vaudeville days. When this band was about (and before) any tune might have a number of songs to it and verses tended to be mix and match. This applied to all the new styles coming into vogue at the time inc blues, jazz, mountain, and western.

  • @ivanrorick - Thanks. I learned it to this tune: (add the w's) youtube.com/watch?v=xNEkA3O5EI0&playnext=1&list=PL5C934FC8A6718BBD

  • @sandinmyears1 It's "The Girl I Left Behind Me".

  • I've heard this as a folk song but never blue grass style. What's the other fiddle song with almost the same melody?

  • i could dance a step to this, tks.
