Aged 5 in 1985, I think this the very 1st film I saw at the cinema back then. The beginning of the soundtrack, It makes me feel happy and have happy memories as a child. I really thank my mum for that.

:3 Just saw this today. It's.... Truly amazing. :] And incredibly inspiring! I wanna go out and create an imaginary world where I can have the most incredible and thrilling adventure of a lifetime. It saddens me that I can't... But this movie helps me to smile thinking about how it would be if I could.

The music was the best part of this movie. It really reminded me of reading the books when I was little.

Return to Oz needs more love!
p.s.
and a sequel.

This entire score reminds me of my dad who passed away when I was 4. He absolutely loved this movie and used to watch it with my sister and I. Every time I hear this beautiful soundtrack I feel connected to him.

Superb score to a sadly underrated classic movie that i saw 2 times in theaters when i was 4 yet it scared me badly on the first screening yet i loved it.

Let's not forget there was also The Last Unicorn, Secret of NIMH, Heavy Metal, Conan, Fire and Ice, Neverending Story, Legend, The Princess Bride, Willow, Rock and Rule, Making Contact (a.k.a. Joey), Starchaser Legend of Orin, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (aka Warriors of the Wind), My Neighbor Totoro, Castle in The Sky (aka Laputa), Excalibur, Clash of the Titans etc. are other good 80's fantasy movies.
-
Return to Oz, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, The Black Cauldron, Robin of Sherwood and the Original Star Wars-trilogy are pearls from the 80's.
