it was 1992 and excitement and expectations were high all around newcastle and st james,s park,,a new era in football history had started .....(the Premier league) and nufc had 2 win promotion from division 1 to become a part of it...."premier league here we come" was shouted and sung everywhere by many thousands of geordies and on tuesday nite May 4th 1993 at Blundell park nufc won the Division 1 Championship trophy in a 2 v O victory (david kelly,andy cole) goalscorers.....premier league HERE WE COME and "we are the champions" was sung...it was Toon Party time..........5 days later we beat leicester 7 v 1...final league position First in Division 1....champeeownees ole ole ole........

  • meanwhile BBC Look North phoned Harry Palmer up and said their " Outside Broadcast Film Crew " would like 2 meet him somewhere 2 film him singing "Geordie medley" 4 this evenings news....where can u get 2 at 2pm so we can capture this nostalgic terrace song which was noticed and sang/chanted along 2.....I could play guitar/chant at Jackie Milburns statue on Northumberland street....I would like it if u could film me there....thank u.........

  • Back in 1992 Harry Palmer had sang and chanted many Newcastle Utd football songs assissted by constant strumming of his guitar occaisionally assissisted by a high powered battery operated amplifier and a microphone + mike stand...after touring many pubs in the Toon and Sweden and NUFC away games he got airplay at St James Park after a request for local groups and artists 2 send in demo tapes 2 S.J.P. was announced over tannoy at the match....next thing The Journal ring up then its BBC1 then....
