May 1960. After trying other names including "Johnny and the Moondogs", "Long John and The Beetles" and "The Silver Beatles", The Quarrymen finally became "The Beatles" in August 1960. This tape was recorded in May 1960.

  • Bud Green, Herman Ruby, and Sam Stept, according to the Beatles Anthology video. It's an old song from the 20s but Fats Domino and Eddy Arnold recorded it in the 50s, as did an obscure doo-wop group called The Hurricanes, which may have been the source for The Beatles.
