This was waaaaaaay worse than the #Chara hit. Hate say I agree with Brian Burke but he's right. The NHL should allow the bear-hug rides into the boards again.
This wasn't really a vicious hit, but how dumb can a guy be? The second he hits him, he knows he's gonna get a penalty, so why does he hit him? I know things happen fast in hockey, but they didn't seem to be moving too fast here.
Not sure how he was shocked that happend. That is dictionary on what the NHL is trying to prevent. If that isn't a suspention purly bc he didn't get hurt then I'm convinced these new rules the NHL are trying to implecate are just for talks.
Wouldn't count on a suspension. Smid didn't try to rail him through the boards. A bad hit, no doubt but he didn't fly in and try to stick his head through the boards. Plus the Chara hit will take almost all of the attention off the hit. Time will tell
