  • I don' t understand why people think that aikido is kind and useless...sure, it' s kind if you are a good aikidoka, if you are not fluid enough you risk to break something, seriously

  • Ueshiba also believed that if a mugger attacks you, you have a responsibility to make sure he doesn't attack a second person. He did believe in defusing situations when possible, but when it turned lethal he thought you had a responsibility to end the fight quickly and devastatingly.

  • Dammm!!!

  • The important thing to remember when watching these videos is that the 'attacker' is moving along with the defense for two reasons. One: it's a TRAINING VIDEO. Of course, he's going to go along with it so you can show perfect technique. This ties into two: When you're training these, if you don't move with the technique, you're going to get HURT. I took far more damage teaching than I ever did learning when a learner did something wrong and moved the opposite way I was expecting.

  • Yes.. Ill remember this one the day i go out there and start to get hassled by a bunch of ragdolls.. absolutly.../;)

  • i feel that fighting someone well versed in aikido while not knowing any yourself is the best way to end up looking like an idiot when you get tossed and then pinned in a totally helpless position

  • @Midnite4Life777 It really does, I wouldnt have thought so from looking at it at a distance, but having experienced it, it still amazes me how effective it is.

  • NO ONE will grab your arm like this - ever.

  • in an actual real life instance, who in their right mind believes for 1 second that na attacker is going to grab the wrist like that O_o...

i do have to say that i like the possibilities presented by the technique if applied more realistically though.

  • @blunttrauma666 Yup i thought it wouldnt work as well but MAN it is so awesome! Kinda like a controlled parry one could say! This works well with any Martial science!

  • From personal experience I can tell you that there is nothing "soft" or beautifull in being put into place by someone who practises Akido. I am a Judo brown belt, I also have a blue belt in Gracie JJ and have boxed for 6 years. A friend of mine is an Akido black belt (shodan) and we have sparred on occations and in 3 out of 5, he wins the match. The difference is, where I use force, he uses that force against me and that applies just as well in the street as in the dojo.
