In which Katie gives you a (very) brief overview of the Canadian parliamentary system and the main players, forgetting to mention that only the Liberals and the Conservatives (in their many forms; the party now is not the same party it used to be) have ever held government.

Sincere apologies for the length. These things are difficult to cut. If you can believe it, I had 25 minutes worth of footage for this thing.....

  • How could the bloc québécois have 47 seats while the green party has none? Is it because the green party never has a majority in a specific region?

  • @jakejakeish Yes, that's it. The Greens do have one seat, now, following the last election - and the Bloc only have 4! Major reshuffle. The NDP gained a huge number of seats. If you're interested, it's worth checking out the results from the May 2 election.

  • CANADA NEEDS PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION!

  • @7CATALYST25 Heh, yeah, I would agree with that :)

  • I know a lot more about Canadian government than I used to =D

    Thanks for educating us ;)

  • @johnnycmajor HAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • @KatieAtLarge Marry me!

  • Hey thanks for this video I`m from Germany and i have to present about the canadian political system and your video is very helpful :-)

  • YOINKS AND YOINKS! :P

  • Ron Paul for Prime Minister.

  • Katie - that was a really good overview. I must admit I am as baffled by politics as I am by the stock market - two things that are very dry and fact-filled, yet also very important. I actually learned a lot in that 6 minutes which would have taken much digging around the internet otherwise. Well presented!
