Phone 256-381-4073 now to adopt Romeo and Juliet, two lovable German Shepherds in need of a home! They may be put down by Colbert County Animal Control soon if no one adopts them.

Please help let everyone know about Romeo & Juliet. These two loving dogs need someone to love and will be put down if homes are not found for them immediately.

Officer Price of the Colbert County Animal Control in Tuscumbia, Alabama, said that two German Shepherds, which I've dubbed Romeo and Juliet, are in need of immediate homes.

These dogs were originally picked up in the city together and have been spayed and neutered. If responsible guardians are not found for the two adorable German Shepherds they will likely be put down. They may be killed as early as Tuesday, Feb. 26 or shortly there after. Officer Price said that the Colbert County Animal Control simply, "does not have the space to keep these two dogs," alive. Of course every effort is being made by Officer Price and the Colbert County Animal Control to find responsible guardians for these two dogs which is why I'm making this video, to help in that effort!.

I'm asking everyone to help save Romeo and Juliet. Do not let animal control destroy these dogs! German Shepherds make
great family pets and great life long companions. It will be terrible to destroy these dogs when out there somewhere there is someone who needs a life companion!

Please call the Colbert County Animal Control at 1-256-381-4073. Volunteer to adopt these dogs and/or help maintain the dogs until a responsible guardian can be found. Urge that these dogs, Romeo and Juliet, NOT be put down!

Killing Romeo and Juliet will represent a great loss. Please help save Romeo and Juliet today! Call the shelter! Call the newspaper and radio stations! Urge that Romeo and Juliet be saved! These two dogs will make someone a great companion so please, help and come to their rescue!

If you have a radio station, please help by making a PSA to save Romeo and Juliet and/or telling the general public about these two dogs during your programming. Thank you.

UPDATE: Notice was received that as of 3:30 PM, 25 Feb. 2008, Romeo and Juliet have been adopted! They were placed for adoption within some 63 hours from the time a video had been placed on YouTube, PSA's were sent out to various rescue groups and emails distributed to rescue workers. This demonstrates that YouTube and other Internet resources can be very effective in the rescue of large breed dogs and that this should be one of the methods employed in the future to expedite the adoption of large breed dogs as well as other animals. Congratulations CCACA and everyone for your efforts and cooperation in helping to find Romeo and Juliet a new home, together where they can be loved and make a contribution to a new family.

  • omg how cute are they i have a german shepherd now her name is juliet she's a loving puppy and she likes to pawl me in my face sometimes

  • Thankyou for your concern "Smith." ((hugs))

  • thank you Anna for passing this on

  • I passed this on to my friend in Alabama who also is passing it on.

Older dogs are already housebroke, dont chew and you CAN teach them new tricks. I always adopted older dogs. They learn the daily routine of the house easily.

Shepards can learn up to 700+ words thier so intelligent and great with children. Good watchdogs as well.

Good luck I hope these dogs find homes in a pair, if not at least a home each!
