Visit www.datron.com for more info. This video shows a trunnion-style 5-axis CNC machining center milling an aluminum part on 4 sides. This system is capable of "true" 5-axis machining and is available on a number of our models including M7, M8 and M10. For milling complex 5-axis parts DATRON has the ideal solution.

  • That's some high-pressure coolant. Is that for visibility of the cutting in this video, or is the coolant generally a finely atomized spray?

  • For milling aluminum we have an ethanol (alcohol) coolant system that sprays a fine mist on the cutting tool. Ethanol is a superior coolant because it has a lower-than-water viscosity and quickly covers the tool and gets to the cutting edge. Plus, as it quickly evaporates it disipates heat and delivers a cleaner cut. Also, since it evaporates it leaves clean finished parts that don't need to be degreased ... saving time and money! For ferrous metals (steel) we have a micro-jet oil mister.
