  • Great work by the initial crew in attendance, especially as it was only a crew of 4. Also noted the 3rd pump that arrived could not get past the parked cars either side of the street and had to reverse and come around to the rear. Dont park without giving some consideration to emergency vehicles!! Anyone know if the 2nd/3rd pumps would be rds or wt??

  • wow great pressure out of the hydrant!

  • @chambersmatty I DIDN'T say that you DID say they had no water. Read my comment again for clarification (note the word IF). I also know exactly how long the water will last as I have been a pump operator for many years! We all make and see mistakes on the fireground but the hydrant was NOT flushed and the quick release coupling was NOT connected properly. The water onboard is used for rapid intervention to prevent escalation: but it WASN'T used.

  • @Dang3011 I didn't say that they had no water, and a fire appliance can empty a full tank in about 8 mins, so it's very important to have a water supply

  • @chambersmatty IF they didn't have any water on the appliance then they weren't available for further fire calls so should not have been assigned to the incident!

  • How do you know that they have not just been to a call and did not have time to full up the fire appliance.

  • @treborf18 I don't think he is doing the right thing! No point in worrying about water supply until your means of delivery are all setup. At the point of setting in 2 soft suctions the only delivery is the 45 covering jet which isn't much use to the BA team. They could have course been using the hosereel from the 2nd pump which is stuck in traffic! I have never been on an incident when the driver/pump operator of the 1st pump worries about water supply before the delivery is in place.

  • any one lives in watford

  • @freyabueller18 Because throwing a high pressure jet through the lounge window only going to en-train air worsening conditions inside for the committing crew, you say 'we carry hose reels so i presume you are suggesting your a FF and therefore you should know this from fire behavior training + 1800 on 45mm is not going to last long so he is doing the righht thing even if a 2nd app is on the way...they could even if unlikely become delayed in traffic ect so securing water supply is most important

  • Amazing video. Any idea on how the fire started ?

  • It doesn't appear to me that the hydrant was flushed! It looks like he didn't connect the soft suction properly at the quick release coupling and it blew off. I also can't see why he was worried about it anyway as that should be a job for the second appliance driver. He has 1800L of water in the tank for the early stages.

  • why wasnt hosereel applied through the lounge windows sorry guys but this was far to slow before water was applied ..thats why we carry high pressure hose reels for instant use on attacking theses fires ...........!!
