The Changing of the Guard in formerly communist Czech Republic. The Guards Goosestep. Very Facist, and very interesting. Something u would never see before 1990 and the Velvet Revolution

  • Applying any political adjectives to a military march is downright wrong, an army is anything but political. These traditions, as mentioned above, are centuries old and utterly beyond any politics. So, please, don't let any prejudices and simplified associations cloud your judgement.

Btw: What you're calling a "goosestep" is in fact a descendant to a slow type of march that guard units performed since the times of medieval kings. Ever seen for instace the French Foreign Legion on parade?

  • Im learning a lot from my European brothers. I didnt mean to disparage anyone by comparing goosestepping to certain tyranical and dictatorial regimes. Im sure this type of march is steeped in history for millenium and the ancient romans may have even done it!

  • Perhaps a better description would have been Tyranical Style goosestep rather than facist.

  • The Prussian Military tradition is anything but Fascist! The "Goosestep" was brought about during the 18th century. It is now the staple march of many nations. Prussia might be gone forever but its Military Legacy lives on. Don't stain its honor by using uneducated remarks like "Fascist" again.

  • @BRADFORDGOREN Every your comment makes me more sure about your bad angle of view on eastern Europe countries. Disciplined army and guard ain't sign of "tyrany", it's sign of honor to represent motherland, not every army in present is just "a pack of pigs". This guard was set in time of First republic (CSR 1918-1938 - free democratic period of CZ history) as named as an "island of freedom" in totalitarian Middle Europe. These men were prepared to die for our country. But Munich betrayal came....

  • 1) This is not a normal changing of the guard, this must be a preparation for something bigger, for example a state visit.

    2) What's fascist about it? The fact that they wear dark coats and march? Man, ALL soldiers march and MANY armies have similar coats as part of their uniform. Please don't call us fascist and don't call us communist. We've had enough of both. Thank you.

    3) That's not even a goosestep!

  • "Very fascist"? BRADFORDGOREN, your mother is a prostitute.

  • @birongono are crazy or what? What are you talking about? :D

  • Nice to see some countries are still only white; the best for innovation and culture.

  • @maggytec no, nooone, just over 1000 years, that's how many times than america even exist?

  • @maggytec :-) Funny. But i undertand, they never told you about Czech soldiers who marched thru Russia from West to East on their way home. Its not the best Russian military tradition :-D

  • @birongono :-D Take a pill man

  • Do this people have any kind of scruples? They must be aware that they stole all the buildings, the whole city and the whole country to the former inhabitants. They just murdered them in a way not even the beasts would and occupied their houses they built through thousand of years. And now they do as if nothing happened. They should not show their face never ever, they should be ashamed until the end of time. People of murderers
