How Environmental Alarmism Kills Jobs

After the Heritage Foundation's briefing for bloggers today, Americans For Prosperity president Tim Phillips recounted some of the stories he has heard from Americans nervous about losing their jobs or their businesses as a result of legislation inspired by global warming hysteria.

Their fears are much like those of Tim and Tiffany McElhany in Vevay, Ind., whose story is featured in the film "Not Evil Just Wrong."

Americans for Prosperity is a conservative group, founded by a rich guy whose company runs oil refineries and pipelines. They want little government and a free market locally, state and federally. In other words businesses should be able to short-cut safety, pollution regs., health regs. to make as much profit as possible. Guys like these want to make as much money as possible for them, while giving their workers and the environment short shrift.

Casualties are those who are charged a cost for a certain predicament. Its scope ranges far beyond damages or injuries, but also includes lost of life, habit, and lifestyle.

Increase in arid regions lead to less inhabitable land. This forces people to desire to more suitable areas. Cultural differences and lack of resources cause political tension, leading to political unrest, in some cases, war. Even France, one of the most liberal countries in the world, suffers from this.

@RedEyePergo Mosquitoes and other disease-carrying pests have already started moving north, bringing death with them. Heat waves have killed tens of thousands of people when previously they would have been much less severe. As temperatures continue to rise crop yields will begin to fail causing famine, water systems in developing areas are strained as droughts become more common, and eventually war and migration could cause massive casualties.
