Duane's slide on the right channel, during the chorus for me, is the entire reason for listening to this version. It is beyond amazing being able to hear this old mix. Whoever kept that track off the final mix did the song a horrible injustice. It's given this song a whole new life to me, after hearing it for 35 years.

@rivermandan9 Love these alternate takes and different mixes. Clapton is correct here. He was staying within the human realm. If he included those who are more than human, he would have referenced JMH, who traumatized the great EC with his assault on Killing Floor while sitting in upon arriving in London.

Duane hit a logging truck.
Don't you even check wiki before you post something you know nothing about so you don't look stupid?
Pictures of Duane's motorcycle after the accident are on the net... no peaches anywhere.
That was an ignorant comment.

@jwkls17254 Not true ..
-
@xXxDriftingCowboyxXx Actually i heard the real words spoken were Ï'll eat a peach for peace " when he was asked about peace and Viet Nam .. You guy's remember Viet Nam ??
-
@jwkls17254 I think that is bs ,because he clipped a timber flat-top as you guy's call them .

Eat a peach is a reference to the scene after Duane's motorcycle accident that he died in. The truck at the intersection was filled with peaches. After the accident they were spilled everywhere.

This song is not the same whitout duane allman...
The coda (second part) is heavenly music -- a gift for all time. Gives me goose bumps listening to Duane playing the slide. Incredible.

I like Beethoven’s piano sonatas and Wim Mertens; should I try to rank them alongside Duane Allman? I am still moved by Duane’s playing I never heard a guitar like Duane’s. Give me a dusty old recording of Duane anyday. But how on earth can I say he is better than Mr X. Can only say I am grateful to youtube for allowing me to get the first different music I heard from Duane in 30 odd years.
Sincere thanks to all the people who made the postings.
