In Part 2, I review the Jakks TV Games Pac-Man Retro Arcade Joystick.

This system is stylish and attractive, and even though the cord is too short and they are no grips on the bottom, and the copyright screens are too long, it's a better piece of hardware than the original Pac-Man Joystick.

Not only does this one save your high scores, but there's even a pause feature this time! You can take the system from room to room without losing your game!

The packaging is nice looking and highly attractive, but the system is strapped to the inner-box for dear life. They even designed permanent eye-holes in the unit's base so it could be twist tied to the packaging in three different places!

If they can go through that much trouble just to keep the system in the box, why couldn't they think to include grips on the bottom like the old joystick had so you can play it on smooth surfaces!

The games all play much more like the original cabinets and sound better too. I didn't have time to play Xevious and Pole Position, but they both play perfectly.

More details and photos related to these joysticks can be found at this related feature on my site: http://www.games.supertrainstationh.com/STSH-joystick_game_reviews.html

  • I don't understand the "automatically" motif. But great review! I'll definitely pick this up!

  • @olliezero The "automatically" thing was a dorky nudge to the "How To Beat Home Video Games" series which can be found here on YouTube, For some reason the host of the show often specifies that the "next level will set up automatically" in Atari 2600 Pac-Man for instance, as though you'd have to set it up manually like a board game.

  • i got a few questions so why the new intro background?..... I like it! its almost 8- bit... is that why you made it look like that? is it only for this review or are you going to keep it this way?

  • @killerdoug1 Yeah, I do some of my doorworm art pixel-by-pixel, there's more of it in the Ceeations section on my site, and also in some of my art galleries linked to there. I need to do more of it when I have the time.

I'm probably going to use that version in any videos I so related to classic gaming. Thanks for watching and responding.

  • i dont think diagnals work cause in mine it doesn't

  • how do you do diagionals

  • id keep the original too cuase its collection item i had a classic when i was 4 but i plyed it too much

  • Good going with comparing the sounds to the previous unit.

They've had a Ms. Pac-Man unit before, Jakks has made so (*#!ing many of these units. Good point with Junior Pac-Man and Pac-Mania, they might eventually do those at some point, or at least I'd think.

Play Pole Position yet? :) Xevious they changed a bit, making it harder and less fun, I've hardly played that one at all, it's way too difficult without diagionals.

  • @gguru1 lolz

  • @gguru1 You're right, my apologies, what was i thinking

  • @VVWEtitantrons No! Not automatically! You have to manually replace each and every single Pac-Man dots by hand before you start the next level. What do you think this is? Some kind of marxist outfit where the government sets up the next level for you?
