This is a performance by my Ukulele Instructor, Vincent Cortese. He was a student of Roy Smeck and studied with him for over 10 years. The Ukulele he is playing is an old Martin Style 1 that he bought from Roy. Its one of the loudest Martins I have ever heard. Check it out for yourself. Happy 4th everyone! ENJOY!

  • Yes.indeed

  • So are you in (A D F# B)

  • Check out the Balsa Bill version. Much more musical than this.

  • how do you learn that sort of right hand technique?what is his primary strumming finger ?and do you flick your fingers out to achieve that fast strumming?

  • Awesome!

  • Actually, those are just Martin soprano strings, the cheap ones. All the best to you and thanks for watching.

  • Nice playing, did you put any special sort of strings on it to give it that bright and lively sound?

  • Really impressive! Roy Smeck--born in Reading, PA--was a son of George M. and Florence Smeck.

His dad was a laborer who had trouble making ends meet. As a child, LeRoy lived in a different house every year, as they were always being forced to move.

  • awesome!

  • WOOOOOW THAT'S GREAT!!!!!!!
