Separate Ways: Someone Save Me; Chapter 17 Part 2

Joe's POV

It's Carson's birthday tomorrow and guess where I am?!? No, I'm not in New York promoting the band, attending endless photoshoots and mind numbing interviews. I am pulling into L.A.X airport with Nick and Kevin to check into a hotel. That's right. Damage control involves surprising Carson on her birthday. I can't let these band guys think Carson is available property. I have to show my ground, and Carson is deffinetly my turf. She's my only turf and the only turf I ever want!

"Why exactly did we fly to California without our parents permission?" Nick asked.
"I have to be their for Carson's birthday!" I stated.
"But she said you could celebrate when we finished tour." Kevin reasoned.
"Alot can happen at a birthday Kev! Remember mine?"

I thought back to that night. I had finally won Carson. She admitted she loved me and everything was perfect. Nick and Riley were a couple and were so in love, and Kevin... That was the night I had seen Hayley kissing Brad. I couldn't believe she had done that to Kevin. I knew how much he loved her and how much it hurt him. When she admitted what had happened Kevin was crushed. Angry, but crushed. All he wanted was for Hayley to be happy, hoping it would involve him. If it didn't, he would let her go, and suffer in misery.

"Yeah. I remember." he mumbled.
"Mom and Dad are gonna freak when they find out were missing." Nick moaned.
"It's worth it. You get to see Riley." I teased.
"Yeah. It's deffinetly worth it." Nick laughed.

We collected our luggage and sneaked out of the airport un-detected. We were planning on staying in a hotel until the next day so we could suprise Carson.

Carson's POV

"Happy birthday!"

I opend my eyes and saw Hayley and Riley standing above me.

"Ohh!" I groaned.

I couldn't deal with this right now. My week hadn't exactly being great, and turning 18 added extra dissappointment to my week.

*flashback*

"Mom, don't yell but...I invited Dad over so you can talk through your differences." I explained.
"What!"
"I said, don't yell. Please, for me."

My father knocked at the door and I skipped from the lounge to answer the door.

"Hey dad." I greeted him.
"Hi honey. How have you been?" he asked.
"Fine."

I didn't bother asking him. His look told me everything. He had large purple bags under his withered eyes, and his hair was overgrown. He smelt of stale cigerettes and liqour and his clothes were crumpled. When he walked into the lounge his eyes lit up on the sight of my mother.

"Hey." he said.
"Hi." she said back.

I stood in the kitchen looking through onto their conversation. They were speaking in whispers but I could see in their eyes, things weren't going well.

"I can't believe you did that without talking to me."
"I can't believe you did that in the first place."
"I'm a wreck without you, I need to come home."
"You should have thought about that before jumping into bed with your secretary!"
"I told you guys to sort things out." I yelled from the kitchen.
"I'm trying!" me father yelled back. "Please, forgive me." he pleaded.
"I just don't trust you anymore." my mother sobbed. "Just sign the papers and move on. I have."
"You already....signed them?" he asked, bewilderd.

Signed them? Signed what!

"What did you sign?" I asked, appearing at the doorway.
"Divorce papers." my Mom said.
"A divorce?" I whispered. "You can't divorce. It's my birthday in a couple days."

I know that is possibley the lamest excuse ever but, I was shocked. I was on the spot and to me, it seemed a valid reason.

"Carson baby, I know this is hard but, were adults." my mother reasoned.
"So you should act maturely."
"But sometimes. Even if we want things to work, they just don't." she continued.

Tears began streaming from my eyes and I fled to my room.

*End flashback.*

The day after I had visited the hairdressers and changed my look. I think it should represent how I'm feeling and it deffinetly does. I was back to bleach blond with thick side bangs. I had black undertones and roots. It was rock and roll and I loved it. My friends, not so much.

"I still can't believe you changed your hair." Rilkey remarked, as I shifted in bed to sit upright.
"It takes some getting used to." I stated.
"You can say that again." Hayley joked.
"Any birthday wishes?"
"A new life." I said, sarcasticly.
"Carson. It's your birthday, have fun." Hayley pleaded. "Forget about your parents and their retarded arguments. Today, it's all about you."
"Right. We have the house to ourselves and I invited my band guys over for a party." I explained.
"Does your mother know about this?" Riley questioned.
"She doesn't have to. She's at a getaway with her friends, again!"
"Suppose the house won't get trashed." Hayley mumbled.

The house wouldn't get trashed, but I would.
