  • I mean, when it was enabled on the mix lol

  • Yeah, the plugin really sounds more "exciting", but I really liked the sound of the plugin not just compared to the hardware but when it was disabled on the mix.

    Very good sounding plugin.

  • I prefer the hardware... sorry!

  • Also, I would like to add that I use Linux/Ardour and would like to have these plugins as well. I can purchase DSP plugins for Linux (and they look real nice), why cant I purchase these?

  • It does sound good, and this is a start, but they need to find a way to make it distort, and push it beyond the limit, because when it is played back, that distortion is cancelled out on a natural tape recorder. It called burning to the 3rd layer.

  • the plugin sounds more "exciting" than the real thing...like there's a sparkle on top of the plugin...

  • Very good emulation. I will say this though, it seems like you've slightly cleaned up the sound of the ATR-102, some of the natural analogue distortion/crunch and phase characteristics don't come through as well compared to the hardware. Make sure you don't begin 'candy coating' vintage hardware, because that would quickly be approaching very dubious territory that defeats the purpose of your wonderful plugins.

  • @douglas787 I kinda see what your saying but in actuality if these plugs can actually recreate what happens to a signal through these units, then you have no argument anymore. I know for a fact that UA does everything it can to faithfully emulate these units, even in analog, non linear systems.

  • I have the real thing, load that baby up with ATR services tape and get ready to rock! truly the finest 2 track mix-down deck ;) 420

  • Does not sound the same, I can easily tell. But to me the result from the digital one sounds more interesting, less sterile and crisper.
