PARE COCHERO is interpreted by the great Orquesta Aragon in Cha Cha Cha style, composed by Pedro Junco. This group was founded by Oreste Aragon in 1939 in Cienfuegos, Cuba. He was the first director for many years until died. Then Rafael Lay who was a member of the orchestra at the age of 20 took over the Orchestra in 1948. He was responsible of making the orchestra know worldwide. In 1982 Rafael Lay was killed in a car accident then, Richard Egues who was the flautist took over the Orchestra for a period of time. Then son of Rafael Lay who also bears his name took over the orchestra. He is the actual leader. Newer members of the orchestra include Eduardo Rubio (flute), Lázaro González Siboré (percussion/violin), Guillermo Garcia (percussion) and Orlando Pérez (piano). In this video you will also see some old members, the most known among them is the great singer and dancer Bacallao. We present this video so the new generations knows these great Cuban artists.

  • Thank you, this brings back so many memories especially at this time of the year. The parties at my house started on December 4th St. Barbara's Day of Chango, on to Noche Buena on Christmas Eve, the New Year and Januray the 6th.

I remember when I got my violin I used to listen to these guys, La Sonora Matancera, Beni More my favorite and others trying to play the violing along with them.
