Brady, you need to get someone to Interview YOU. you are the missing peice of information many of us clamor for.

Not really a fan of the music played between segments. It feels cheesy and downplays how amazing this footage really is.
Other than that, thank you Brady for your work and time you put into these videos. Everyday, I check youtube to see if another has been posted.

nice brady!

That was great! Thank you.

@SuperTechieJ - we mainly generate X-rays, the exact wavelength depends on the experiment. We can also generate infrared and UV light.
-
How much and what kind of radiation is in there when the machine is activated?
Or does it vary with the type of experiment being performed?
-
@trespire - you're right - the magnets bend the charged electrons, but the uncharged photons carry straight on.
-
@anonysquirrel - if you think of acceleration as a vector (i.e. it has size *and* direction), then the electrons are accelerated as they are changing direction, and it's this change in direction that generates light. But they don't gain any energy - they get up to 3 GeV in the booster and then that it just maintained in the storage ring.

@trespire they've probably painted the underside of the blocks with polyurethane or epoxy; plastic in effect

Are electrons accelerated in the storage ring, or are they just in a holding pattern?
-
where is the super mega big particle acelerator?
the one they built beneath montain...
it's so cool to finally get to see candid walk-thrus of these places instead of the few stills i've seen in my life when we were all stuck with magazines. Thank you :)

@dreasim glad you liked it! I think it's more fun to see it as a candid walk-through too... gives a better idea of what it is like to really be there! That is how the films are supposed to feel.
