Certainly Seattle has one of the higher quality light rail lines in the country now that Link has been open (for about a year), though it seems to run unfortunately slow through the downtown transit tunnel. Hopefully with the opening of the University extension in 2016, the buses will be kicked out of the tunnel, thereby allowing speedier travel from Westlake to just south of International District/Chinatown. At that point, Link will act more like a true *rapid* transit system.

Nice!! I was in Seattle last year when these were being tested. However I never got to see one in the tunnel. I now know what it's like. I hope to be riding on one of these later in the year. Thanks very much! Rdgs. Nigel.

I never seen a subway that has both busses and trains running in the tunnel at the same time.

Didn't you get caught by a security officer doing this once?

I never got caught doing this. Instead, I got caught loitering on the Airport station platform while shooting artwork.

Very nice. I like these "cab" shots of light rail.
Is the Westlake station supposed to be that dark?
How did you get up into the cab to shoot the vid?

There's a tiny window in the door that allows me to peek into the cab. The window is tinted making everything darker than usual. Most of the time the blinds are down.
