Some thoughts about claims that the Bible is error-free and divinely inspired. I've tried this as a video response to RevJimHanson and then to a pastor who uses the screen name RationalFaith. Perhaps the third time is a charm: I'm putting it up as a response to a video by Ryantheyouthpastor. Thanks for taking a look, Pastor Ryan.

Pastor Ryan's responses can be found here:

  • I've already answered the Mt-Lk "contradiction" on one of your "Biblical Contradictions" vids, and shown that there is none, as Jesus' family returned to Jerusalem YEARLY for Passover. As for the crucifixion, you need to supply better references here, namely the verses in the Synoptics which contradict with that in John. God bless.

  • @ChristusVlCTOR I do that in another video. And, no, you didn't really solve the problems plaguing the infancy narratives. But I've responded to your comment there.

  • @ProfMTH I feel that the Infancy narrative is reasonably resolved, Luke notes that Jesus' family was at Jerusalem when He was, 1, when He was 2, when He was 3, and 4, and 5, all the way till He was ATLEAST 12. This puts Him close to the danger.

  • @ChristusVlCTOR "I feel that the Infancy narrative is reasonably resolved...."

Well, we can agree to disagree.

  • Excellent! Great videos. I was wondering if you would include in your videos--if you haven't yet--a response to the relatively new concept that some Christians are leaning towards that frees them from any connection to anything really. They are now saying, "The bible is man-written, through God's inspirations, and therefore has flaws, so what really matters is one's 'personal relationship' with God." These Christians are believers in their internal connection with God who bestows good unto them.

  • @kmcd7 Well, I've addressed similar claims from moderate, liberal, and progressive Christians in various videos--see, e.g., /watch?v=iErLsmU_y4U Are you specifically pointing to what one hears from the so-called "Emergent Church" now?

  • @lease2coach Glad you thought so. Thanks.

  • @ProfMTH Not sure you will respond to this I can not send links through here but I am going to send you a message with a link in it. This goes to another scholar discussing "misquoting Jesus". If you would like to read it I think it is one of the better answers to your questions.

  • just a quick note, love the vids.... by the way F Y I agape is always used wrong, it is greek and literaly means the love of or for a god. this is not the love of any thing else. it is a love in the same way a battered wife loves her abusing husband.

  • @RUREELYDATZMART

Let's use another example. Suppose a father (biological, adopted the kid from Egypt, whatever) said to a child, "I, and I alone, am your parent. Don't call anyone else your parent except me." Then, the child found a woman who had something to offer and called her "mother." Then, the father killed his child. Would you say that the father embodied love and was not jealous?

  • @RUREELYDATZMART

Saying "love is not jealous" means "the one who loves does not get jealous of the one loved."

Now, tell me, if someone saw someone they proposed love to cheating on them with others who "steal their glory," and then killed the one they proposed love to, "including their children," would you say they were jealous?

You are trying to say that God is Love but at the same time that he does not love all of his people.

  • @FarAwayTheBest

"if a contradiction can be solved in any way then it's not a contradiction"

True, but if the only way to solve it is with something stupid or illogical, then it's either a guarantee that at least one of the conflicting statements is false or that something stupid or illogical is required to explain it.
