This is a quick peek inside a Constitutional Law class taught by Assoc. Professor of Political Science Jim Melcher. A very interactive class at Farmington, the course examines the U.S. Constitution and its changing interpretations traced through U.S. Supreme Court cases and other materials. This video shows how Dr. Melcher has set up a mock trial format to help students explore real-life constitutional issues. Students on both sides of the case prepare and present their arguments and the entire class participates by asking insightful follow up questions. This Political Science class is taking place in the Roberts Learning Center.

  • This is from a debate in my Constitutional Law class on the case D.C. v. Heller, a Second Amendment case. I save at least one challenging question for each side of the debate; that's what's shown here.
