Look. There's me. In five different comments, five different times, saying I support your message.
Reading and counting are hard bro.
-
@TwistdReality I looked, you never said you supported the video, so its not the fifth time you say it, its actually the first. Your entire comment thread began because you told me you thought the video would not be effective because of its shock value.
Thats what you said in your original comment, look it up. I will ask you again... how exactly do you express offensive ideas without offending or shocking people?
-
No. I'm saying that the shock of this video CLOUDS the point.
Here's an example.
Someone watches this video. They read the text. They see the book burning. 2 hours later they only remember this as "That video where the dude burned the Koran".
THAT is what I'm saying. How many people do you think will see this and focus solely on the burning of the Koran and not the ideology behind it?
-
@TwistdReality if that was your entire point I would agree. But thats not what you are saying. You are saying that the shock of the video diminishes the point. I have asked how exactly you suggest we demonstrate that we have the right to do these things in spite of their religious sensitivities without actually burning the book.
So far you have not really given me an alternative or a reason why the shock alone should in any way disuade anybody to exercise a right we have.
-
"If you cannot explain why it is shocking or how this should prevent me or disuade me from expressing myself then you are the idiot. Not me."
For the fifth time... I SUPPORT THIS VIDEO. Maybe all caps will help you understand that sentence. I'd love to say more... but I feel like you may get confused again.
Since people seem to be focusing on whatever part of my comment they feel like debating, I'll keep this one short.
I approve of your intentions and your message. I also fully understand them. I am putting forth the idea that OTHER PEOPLE may lose your message in the bustle of watching their holy book burn.
Read that again.
And once more.
Okay good.
Done.

@TwistdReality "How many people do you think will see this and focus solely on the burning of the Koran and not the ideology behind it?"
Anybody who can and does read everything that is said in the video and understands it. The video is PRETTY clear, not only did I make it clear that this has nothing to do with Islam or what is written in the Quran, I also made it in a way that did not prevent anybody from reading this.
Its pretty clear that the focus here is free speech I think...

@guitarmaestro078
Oh yeah. Totally. A muslim extremist will totally watch this video and go "Oh, he's just supporting free speech." (S)He won't at all go "JIHAD THAT MOTHER FUCKER FOR BURNING MY BOOK!" and ignore the rest.
You're totally right. Your intention will surpass their zealotry.

@TwistdReality every single thing you have brought up here has either been addressed by the video already or really has nothing to do with it.
The video already both acknowledges that extremists out there exist and that there could be consequences to this. I know this video will not convince extremists, that was never my goal or my intention. What made you think my video was trying to make friends with people who think I deserve to die just because I am an atheists?

@TwistdReality this video is directed to the many moderate muslims who understand the concept of freedom of speech and defend it, and still help extremists get away with violence toward those that simply exercise their freedoms.
Many people have been killed over protected speech that blasphemes religions. This has to stop, and one way to do it is to open the eyes of the foundation of extremism. That base is composed of moderates, the ones that wont try to kill me over it.
