This is a very easy song to play. I wish I had a more elaborate version. I set the camera to show the fingering positions, but I was a bit too far left. The song starts with 11554321...

I goofed the last note by trying to pick it too hard. Also, near the end, the sound got a bit muffled. It might be my digital camera's microphone.

  • Thank you for posting this; I first ran across it yesterday -- Christmas -- and it was nicely appropriate. Question: what maker of dulcimer is that?

  • @Akitrom I made the dulcimer myself back in 2006. There are links to additional photos/info on one of the other videos.

  • Sooth, why don't you use more fingers to play the melody? It would make things easier, and you will soon get used to it I'm sure!

  • I've started to, depending on the song, but this one is just TOO simple.

I'm still learning to play. I have several songs that I can play "so-so" (with mistakes), but hopefully I can post a new video soon.

  • Pretty dulcimer! I'm a beginner too and have learned so much just from watching Bing Futch's videos on here. Check them out if you haven't already, especially the Soldier's Joy vid. He's amazing. Good luck!

  • i love it

  • Nice. I can't wait to hear how your playing will improve with time.

  • Yeah, I'm still learning too. But you could do a lot more if you strummed all 4 strings at once like you're supposed to. Using a wooden noter instead of your finger to do the frets would probably be easier too...
