Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire is a game released in 1996 to coincide with the novels and comics by the same name. It takes place during parts and inbetween The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. As Bounty Hunter Dash Rendar, players find themselves having to battle with the Empire, but also against a Crime Syndicate known as Black Sun, lead by Prince Xizor. The game is 10 missions long, but each mission can be quite long, and there's also plenty of playability in the form of finding secrets, and collecting Challenge Points, which reward players with extra lives after every mission, and special rewards for completing the game with all Challenge Points.

I play through the whole game on the highest difficulty setting, Jedi. Differences in Jedi difficulty include lasers from Snow Troopers, Storm Troopers, etc. doing much more damage, able to kill Dash in 2 to 3 hits, and Dash's own laser pistol does much more damage as well (can kill Imperial Troopers in one hit when the laser pistol is fully charged). Other than that then maybe health and ammo placement being different, Jedi isn't that much different from Hard mode.

Escape from Echo base is where you will now notice the difference between Hard and Jedi difficulty. Imperial Guards can now just kill Dash Rendar in two or three shots at the least. This means that all levels populated with them are much harder unless you memorize the positions of all Imperial Troopers ahead of time. Droid type enemies still do the same amount of damage they used to.

The AT-ST boss is very easy. Besides Wampas refusing to infight near the end of the mission and having to backtrack for health, this level went well.

  • I don't remember the laser being this fast. is it a cheat?

  • @Einheri1989 I tapped the button for firing the laser very fast. Yes, my thumb can press the fire button very fast.

  • This game holds a special place in my heart, it was the first game i ever played on any tv game console! *sniff* nastalgia :')

  • This game scared the crap out of me as a kid. The Wampas made me crap myself and they always terrified me. I'd turn off my N64 when I saw them sometimes. Even the AT-ST walkers scared me cause they were huge.

  • @PVFF87 Same here, I used to just make my friend kill them for me :D

  • @Einheri1989 What Do You Mean Remember? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

  • this game needs a movie adaptation. except make it darker, like Blade Runner meets Star Wars. have the stormtroopers behave like SWAT teams, it would be a badass movie

  • 3:09 when i was a kid those things would scare the crap out of me.... now im all like "oh whats that? ya finally got close enough to hit me?...takes two steps back"

  • uh... why in the world did the stormtroopers die so fast? they take lots of hits on medium so why do they just die in an instant on jedi mode???

  • okay admit it, who else tried to race the millenium falcon to the door? :)
