Why Homeschool is Cool - YouTube Video Contest

http://www.laurelsprings.com - If you homeschool, we want to know why YOU think it's cool. At Laurel Springs, we know homeschooling is cool. but we're curious to see what homeschoolers everywhere are up to. Give us a sneak peak into your life so we can see why YOU think homeschooling is cool. You could win $1000, $250 or $100.

This contest is open to all homeschoolers, ages 5-18.

Video entries must be 60 seconds or less and no more than 100MB. All entries must be in English (no-sub titles). Videos from digital cameras, camcorders, and phones are all acceptable if they're in .wmv, .avi, .mov, or .mpg format. Please avoid filming any copyrighted material such as music, logo-apparel, etc.

YouTube viewers and an independent panel will vote for their favorite video until the contest ends January 7, 2008.

I have been to public school it isnt fun. Homeschooling you get freedom, friends, fun, field trips weekly and endless learning. But untill you homeschool its hard to understand.

ok, I have friends. Plenty. More than my public schooled friends do.

I have OTHER adult role models than my parents. Soccer Coaches? Pastors?

Uhm... we can take elective classes genius.

and as a matter of fact we DO have soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, drama, and sooooo many more. So, don't just assume things about us. Some homeschooler wear skirts up to their chest and tuck there shirts in, but most DO NOT. WE HAVE A SENSE OF STYLE AND OUR PARENTS DO NOT DRESS US.

Well, I guess if you have never been to public school you can't really judge it. Speaking as a public school graduate, it does suck, and my parents were looking for alternatives, but none really existed.

No, I haven't been to public school, but My friend has and he said it SUCKS. and my parents chose for me, but I can go to public school if I want, I just choose not to.

Have you ever been to public school? You don't have to eat the food, there isn't a huge amount of work, there's plenty of variety in the curriculum, etc. Did you choose to be homeschooled or did your parents decide? Just wondering.

REAL food

Sleeping in

Less work

More sleep

Variety in your curriculum

NO bullies

little homework (yes we do have homework!)

Andybob, how did you and your parents decide to start homeschooling? I'm just curious, because when I was in school, my parents were always trying to find another option instead of public school.

Okay, but barbed wire fences? I think I've only seen maybe one inner-city school with one, but that's not the norm. At my high school, our test scores were pretty high. There were many kids who scored nearly perfect on the SAT and got into Ivy League colleges. Perhaps its the area I live in, because they aren't many homeschoolers here so I wouldn't have met any friends if I didn't attend school.
