November 8, 2011 - Actress Sienna Miller will accept the Global Activist Award for her remarkable commitment to International Medical Corps and her advocacy for those in greatest need. As our Global Ambassador, she has tirelessly supported International Medical Corps' humanitarian mission bringing the work that we do and the crises we face to a worldwide audience.
Through the course of her generous commitment to and partnership with International Medical Corps, Ms. Miller has traveled to visit field programs in Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti and, most recently in September, to Ethiopia where she saw our famine relief work firsthand.
Having served as our Global Ambassador since 2009, Ms. Miller has been a passionate and eloquent advocate, promoting our work through media outreach including The Today Show, Late Night with David Letterman, Entertainment Tonight, Esquire, Vogue, InStyle and Glamour Magazine.
Ms. Miller is a British actress, best known for her roles in Layer Cake, Alfie, Factory Girl, The Edge of Love and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. In 2007 she was nominated by the London Film Critics Circle Awards for British Actress of the Year, and by the Independent Spirit Awards for Best Female Lead for her role in Interview. The following year she received a BAFTA nomination for the Rising Star Award and won ShoWest's Best Supporting Actress award for The Edge of Love. She also has starred on Broadway and The West End, playing the title role in Patrick Marber's After Miss Julie at the Roundabout and more recently starring as Patricia in the London production of Flare Path at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 2011.
In addition to her career in entertainment, Ms. Miller has made philanthropy a priority both by serving as an International Medical Corps Global Ambassador, and by using her public platform to advocate for a variety of causes.
